Beatty met Annette Bening while the two were filming Bugsy together in 1991, in which they played real-life gangster Bugsy Siegel and his love interest Virginia Hill. Their on-screen chemistry translated directly into a genuine off-screen relationship almost immediately.
Bening became pregnant with their first child not long after filming wrapped, and the couple married in March 1992, shortly before the birth of their daughter.

Following the marriage, Beatty largely stepped back from his public reputation as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, embracing a notably quieter, more family-centered private life with Bening and their four children.
